概要 | This study examined short-term taste preferences in water-deprived rats. Eight-week-old male Wistar/ST rats underwent two-bottle preference tests for 10 minutes after 24-hour water deprivation using sodium saccharin (Sacc), sucrose (Suc), quinine hydrochloride (Q), and distilled water (DW). Naïve rats showed early avoidance of Q and later preference for Sacc and Suc, while pre-exposed rats discriminated earlier between solutions. Cumulative intake differed significantly among all solutions. The findings suggest that initial drinking behavior after deprivation does not reflect taste discrimination but is modified by prior experience and post-ingestive effects, particularly with sucrose. |
