概要 | It is unclear how animals detect and ingest the missing ascorbic acid (AA) in their bodies. It remains uncertain whether ODS rats can learn conditioned flavor preferences with AA solution as the unconditioned stimulus. In the present study, we conducted 17-hour two-bottle preference test between the two flavors in two different experiments. As a results, the average percentage of intake of cherry flavored water (cherry flavored water intake / total intake ×100) was approximately 50% in Experiment 1 and 60% in Experiment 2. These results suggest that ODS rats under the AA-replete condition might not acquire long-term conditioned flavor preference learning with AA solution as the unconditioned stimulus. Further investigation is required. |
