概要	Vital Pulp Therapy, VPT is a dental treatment to preserve the dental pulp that involves removing the infected dental pulp tissue and sealing and covering of the healthy dental pulp tissue with biocompatible materials such as Mineral Trioxide Aggregate, MTA which has a kind of reparative activity for newly dentin formation named dentin bridge, DB. Prior to determine this treatment, the practitioners must carefully distinguish between infected and/or healthy dental pulp. We present a case in which VPT was performed according to the Izumi's criteria for pulp preservation. In this case, the tooth had to be extracted due to an unexpected root fracture. Histopathological examination of the dental pulp tissue revealed degenerative change but DB formation on the surface of dental pulp tissue by MTA cement dental pulp capping without any bacterial infection, and we consider the VPT was successful.
