概要 | CAP, a pungent component of chili peppers, stimulates the pain-receptive cation non-selective ion channel TRPV1 located at the trigeminal nerve terminal. In addition, there have been a wide variety of reports, including conflicting results in rodents. However, most of these reports used higher concetration, which induces TRPV1 desensitization, strongly suggesting a reproducibility problem in the measurement of taste sensitivities. We found 3 µM CAP, which is unlikely to induce TRPV1 desensitization, enhanced the CT nerve responses to sugars but not to artificial sweeteners in B6 mice. Therefore, it was expected that the CAP-induced enhancement of CT nerve response to sugar is mediated by SGLT1, but whether this enhancing effect actually affects the mice's ingestion behavior toward the taste solution had not been investigated. |
