概要 | We have already reported that immune-modulatory effects upon activated T cells of Brazilian green propolis(BP) is mainly mediated by artepillin C, a major component of BP (Tsuruta H, et al). In this study, we used an antagonist, GW9662, against peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR-γ), which is known as a receptor of artepillin C, and examined the direct or artepillin C-mediated indirect effect upon cytokine productions of anti CD3-antibody-stimulated mouse spleen cells. Our results demonstrated the production of IL-2, IL-4 and IL-10 by stimulated spleen cells were significantly enhanced, while that of IFN-γ, IL-6 and IL-17 were reduced by GW9662 treatments. These bilateral effects of GW9662 were further augmented in the presence of artepillin C.
The synergistic effects of GW9662 on the cytokine regulations by artepillin C would suggest potential immune modulatory effects of this agent on BP. |
