概要 Sensory function is influenced by nutritional balance. However, little is known about mechanism for integration of sensory and nutritional informations. In this study, we investigated the existence of taste receptors for nutrient sensing in the rat geniculate ganglion to determine possible mechanism for integration of nutrition and gustatory informations in the peripheral nervous system.A salt taste receptor and a sweet taste receptor component mRNAs were expressed in the geniculate ganglion suggesting the ability to sense fluctuations of sodium and glucose concentrations in body fluid.
